Aziz & Kaye promotes Ismael Henestrosa to Partner

Aziz & Kaye Business Law is proud to announce the promotion of Ismael Henestrosa to Partner of the Firm, effective January 1st, 2020. Mr. Henestrosa joined the Firm in 2015 and has played a key role in growing and consolidating the Firm’s market leading Antitrust/Competition team.

His promotion adds a third partner to the Firm’s growing ranks. It marks the first partner promotion since its foundation 5 years ago.

Ismael Henestrosa has 18 years of experience in Competition and Antitrust, extensive experience in Data Privacy and Administrative law. His practice focuses on the filing of global and domestic mergers, and in investigations carried out by the Mexican competition authorities. He also has designed and implemented antitrust and competition compliance programs.

Ismael Henestrosa Pérez is a Partner at Aziz & Kaye Business Law and has extensive experience in Competition and Antitrust, Data Privacy and Administrative law. He focuses his practice on Competition and Antitrust, working with clients from various business sectors, reviewing the ordinary course of business to make sure that they comply with applicable antitrust law and international best practices. He has designed and implemented antitrust and competition compliance programs in several companies.

He also advises clients in their dealings with the Comisión Federal de Competencia Económica (“COFECE”) and the Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (“IFT”), in relation to the filing of global and domestic mergers and acquisitions, in the accusation/defense of companies under investigation for alleged anticompetitive practices, in investigations on barriers to competition and essential inputs, in consultations related to the application of the Federal Law on Economic Competition, as well as in processing and obtaining favorable opinions for participation in public bids.

Before joining Aziz & Kaye, Ismael worked as an independent consultant, and before that he was the former General Deputy Director (2012 and 2013) at the office of Miguel Flores Bernés, former Commissioner of COFECE. He graduated as Lawyer from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana and worked as Senior Associate at Santos & Partners. Earlier in his career he worked as independent Administrative Litigation and Amparo specialist. He was Head of the Compliance and Regulatory Department at the Internal Affairs Body of Federal Roads and Bridges and Related Services (CAPUFE), responsible for compliance issues, public tenders and fines management. He was also legal manager at the industrial and commercial group L.A.J.A.T.

He is a member of the Ilustre y Nacional Colegio de Abogados de México, A.C, and Sub-coordinator of its Antitrust and Telecommunications Law Commission; member of the Barra Mexicana, Colegio de Abogados. Professor of the economic competition module in the Master’s Degree in Business Law of the Institute of Social Sciences and Administration of the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez; has been professor of economic competition in the Master’s Degree in Economic Law of the Pan-American University (Santa Fe); professor of Computer Law, Administrative Law and Amparo at the University of Valle de México, Associate Professor of the Economic Competition Chair at the Law School of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and Escuela Libre de Derecho. He has lectured in courses on Economic Competition and Telecommunications, given by and in several institutions and organizations such as Instituto de la Judicatura FederalInstituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de MéxicoUniversidad PanamericanaComisión Federal de Competencia EconómicaInstituto Federal de TelecomunicacionesCentro de Investigación y Desarrollo, A.C. (CIDAC)Colegio de Notarios de Ciudad Juárez. He was also lectured at the First and Second Workshop on Economic Competition held between the International Chamber of Commerce of Mexico, the Universidad Ibero Americana and the Federal Competition Commission. He recently joined the International Competition Network (“ICN”) as an expert, where he actively participates in the Mergers, Antitrust and Cartels groups.
